All For You (Korean TV Series OST)

Leave A Note
For more than a decade now, I have been a fan of Korean TV series, or commonly known as "Koreanovela" in the Philippines, where I am from.  Watching Koreanovela became one of my favorite pastimes, especially during those times when I really couldn't get out of the house much.

I have a couple of favorites, but I do like a lot of them.  I like that the story lines dissent from each series, and they're far different from what I'm used to (Filipino TV drama shows) back home.  I also like the fact that they don't put way too many characters into the story.  Having just the right amount of people, in my opinion, makes it easier for viewers to follow the story and get to know the characters even better.  Personally, I don't like having to go through the trouble of remembering each of them, except for the main characters.  I like the fact that I can focus more on the story rather than trying to know characters that get added pretty much every week as the story progresses.

Anyway, one of the many things I ended up enjoying aside from watching the shows is, learning to sing their songs, or the OST (original soundtrack).  I still find it hard to follow the lyrics up to now, even though I've been listening to their music/songs for years, because they're just too hard to enunciate.  But, I enjoy singing!  And it's even more fun when you're trying something different.  I also like the fact that, although I really don't know the language, at least I can sing some of their songs. (Hehe!)

The way they spell their words is way far from how they're actually pronounced (see lyrics below), so it really takes some time for me to learn how to sing one song properly.  I literally have to dissect each word and learn how to say them one by one correctly, before I could even begin to sing the song along with its music.  It can get frustrating sometimes, but if you're determined to learn, it's not at all that bad.  It just needs patience and, of course, determination.  And, by the end of one song, by the time I've learned how to sing it, my tongue is already "sore".  (LOL!)  I don't know how else to describe it.  It honestly feels like you're doing a tongue-twister from beginning to end.

At the moment, I know a few Korean songs by heart - music and lyrics.  But, hey, don't ask me what they mean!  I don't know most of them.  (LOL!!)  I can just sing the songs, but I cannot translate the language. Hehe!!  I'm still in the process of learning it.  I hope....

Here's a new song I'm currently learning how to sing.  If you get confused following the lyrics, well, that makes the two of us.  (Kidding...)

(Singers in this video aren't the original ones.)  I just like this version because the singers here are, Filipinos.  I feel more challenged to learn and sing it the way they did, because they've done a pretty good job.

I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. It may not be your kind of music genre, but sometimes, new songs are worth a try listening to.  You'll never know.  Your next favorite song might just be something you never thought you'd actually like. **wink**

I added the lyrics below.  Enjoy singing in Korean!!

This Time -- this song is stuck in my head...

Leave A Note

Well, this one isn't a planned post. I was supposed to start on a movie, but while it was taking forever and a day to load, I decided to open YouTube with the thought of entertaining myself while waiting.  As I was going through previously watched videos, I came across this song.  I already watched the movie (this is the movie's OST), but never really had the chance to listen to the entire song yet, much more paid attention to its lyrics.  So, I played it today over and over.  Well, maybe about three times.  And it wasn't until the second time, I'd say, that the message of the song kind of hit me.  Nothing crazy. Just some random thoughts flashing through my head.

Now, this song is officially stuck in my head. (Hehehe!)  And, would you believe if I told you, that just by listening to it a few times, I already know most of the lyrics.  Not that it really matters.  The thought of it just makes me smile.

By the end of the day, this song will be added to my playlist.  Something new to listen to.

Now, back to this slow-loading, probably-not-so-good movie...

The "Old" Songs Are the Best

7 Sweet Notes

The other day, while I was watching videos on YouTube, I found this one song that was so popular when I was a kid.  I played it, and childhood memories came flashing back.  After listening to the song, I started remembering more and more songs that I used to dance to every time I heard them playing on the radio.  I listened to them one by one.  And, that's when an idea popped into my head.

I went to our bedroom, grabbed my iPod, hooked it to the laptop and started deleting "new" songs I had on there that I never really listen to anymore.  I went online and looked for the "old" songs, and luckily, I found all that I searched for.  I downloaded them, and transferred them to my iPod.  I'm just so happy that I can finally listen to them anytime I want now!

I actually cannot believe I would go back to listening to the songs from 80s and early 90s.  Even my husband was surprised about it.  When he listened to the song that was playing on my iPod, he laughed.  He wasn't making fun of me, though.  He was joking about how I know the song when I wasn't even around yet when they came out, or I was still too small.  He was like, "Do you even know who sang the song?"  Then, when I replied, "No!  But, I'm sure you do because you're old", he stopped.  And, we both started laughing.

I don't know if it's just me, but I love the old songs more than the hit songs nowadays.  To me, there's more feelings to them compared to the type of music we all listen to today.  Most of the songs we have in the present, create noise.  Most of the singers sing because they can sing.  They don't sing from the heart, thus, you don't feel the connection between you and their songs anymore.  It's very rare to find one who still does. That's why, when I want to listen to music, especially love songs, I listen to songs by England Dan, Chris Norman, Barry Manilow, David Pomeranz, David Foster, Peter Cetera, to name a few.  I feel their music.  They convey truer feelings than the love songs I hear these days.

I am picky when it comes to music genre, particularly the type of songs I want to listen to.  If there's something I didn't like today, don't expect me to like it anytime soon.  Maybe even forever.  And if there's a song I fell in love with, expect to find me listening to it over and over again.  And I don't stop until I memorize every line of the song, by heart.

You'd be surprised that I know more songs from the 80s than songs that are supposedly from "my generation".  I just don't like them that much, plain and simple.

Are you, in any way, like me when it comes to music?

Kia's Amazing Talent

Leave A Note
My cousin, Kia (daughter of my Mama's younger brother), plays electric guitar really good.  I honestly admire her skill when it comes to that.  You see, I play guitar, too, but not as good as she is when it comes to playing rock or alternative music.  She's just so good at it without her even trying.  Anyway, you can see for yourself.  That's why I decided to just post a video of her playing her electric guitar.

You've watched the video already?  What can you say?  She's good, isn't she?

Listening to the sound quality of her music, I'm sure she did buy pro tools only that she used along with her guitar.  I mean, those aren't the really cheap musical tools you can find, but are worth your money as far as quality and durability are concerned.  I have watched her other videos, but so far, this one is my favorite.

Kia has a lot of amazing talents, and she's smart, too.  Not to mention how pretty she is as well.  She even did modeling when she was a kid.  I think she only stopped when her family moved to Dubai, where they stayed and studied till she graduated from high school.  Now, she's back in the Philippines and she's attending De La Salle University.  I just don't know what course she's taking up.  I'm pretty sure she told me before, I just forgot.  I will have to ask her again about that. (Hehehe)

Just Another Day...and Happy Thanksgiving!

Are you the type of person who loves to write, but cannot write anything without music playing in the background?  Or, are you that type who prefers quiet environment for you to be able to write something?

I am the type who loves having music on while writing.  For some reason, it helps me come up with different ideas when I don't have anything in mind to write about, and it keeps me wanting to write more.  There may be times when I prefer a quiet surrounding, but that's rare.  It's only when I really am not in the mood and I have to write something.

I love listening to pop, love songs, Christian songs, and right now, of course since it's almost Christmas, I listen to Christmas songs all the time.  I always have it playing on Pandora radio every time I'm on the computer.  There's just something about listening music while writing.  It keeps me relaxed and motivated at the same time.  And, I love having to feel that way especially when my brain is too drained from having a long day.

Right now, I'm listening to the song After All by Peter Cetera and Cher.  By the way, I used this song as the music background for the video I made as my anniversary gift for my husband.  I love the message of the song, and it's been one of my favorites!  I actually was too worried that I won't have anything for my husband for our anniversary because I haven't made any video with photos before.  And it took me days to finish it! I tried a couple times using the windows movie maker, but I failed.  I just couldn't figure out how to do it.  But, thanks to my new-found online friends, they suggested a website where I can make the photo slideshow with music, and it worked!  I had to pay to be able to download the entire video, but everything was so worth it!  With that website, it only took me about 3 hours to get everything done.  (Well, I had to go through our photos from the very beginning, and I picked the ones I wanted to use.  Plus, I had to edit the entire thing three times because at first, I didn't have enough photos to last till the end of the song.  And when I added some photos, I ended up having more than what I needed.  After that, I had to edit the caption again because I deleted and added photos.)

Anyway, I'm happy with the result!  My husband loved it, and that's all that matters!  It wasn't something extravagant, but knowing I made it with so much love, he said, it was more than enough.

And before I forget, HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

If I Could Have the Chance Again...

2 Sweet Notes
Singing while playing guitar or keyboard at the same time, was one of my favorite hobbies back home.  When I'd get home from school and had a long and tiring day, most of the time, that was what I loved doing to relax myself.  I could sit in my room for hours doing that.  I love music with a passion!

I still play instrument and sing up to now.  Whenever I get free time, I'd sit and play gospel songs with my guitar.  How I wish I brought my songbook with chords with me when I came here so I could easily play more songs that I love.  Sad to say, but I could hardly remember most of them anymore!  I also miss our yamaha digital piano a lot!  I am not as good as my sister when it comes to playing the piano/keyboard, but I love it!  Looking back, I wish I took the piano lesson seriously when our Grandma devoted her time teaching us how to play it.  I only started, but didn't go all the way, unlike my sister.  At the time, I was more interested in violin which, I never even had the chance to learn how to play it.  We couldn't afford.  Plain and simple.

at home after an 8-hour duty at a hospital

Whenever we get the chance to visit home, for sure, I'd be playing piano again.  Or, I'd let  my Grandma play songs of hymn, then, I will sing for her, just like the old times.  I think that's one reason I never had that interest in learning it.  Because I loved watching her play the piano more than having her seated next to me and teaching me instead.  But like what I said, I wish now I grabbed that opportunity when she still had that strength in her to teach us.  Oh, regrets indeed!  That's one thing I really don't like doing - asking myself "What if?"  Now, I'm going to live with it for the rest of my life.  I had the chance, but I blew it off!  And that makes me sad.

If I could have the chance again, I won't waste a single minute of it!  I will start piano lessons and go all the way.  I know I could've made Grandma happier if only I did what I was supposed to do.  I hope it's not too late.  I still know the basic, and I can pretty much read notes still, so I think I'd be good for a beginner.  Now, I can only wish I'd have her again to sit next to me teaching me how to play the piano - just like when I was little.  I wish...

What Is a Trombone?

Leave A Note
I had to search on Google to see what a trombone actually looks like.  I really am not familiar with the brass instruments, though I love listening to the sound they make.

The trombone (German: Posaune, Spanish: trombón) is a musical instrument in the brass family. Like all brass instruments, sound is produced when the player’s vibrating lips (embouchure) cause the air column inside the instrument to vibrate. Nearly all trombones have a telescoping slide mechanism that varies the length of the instrument to change the pitch. Instead of a slide, the valve trombone has three valves like those on a trumpet.
The word trombone derives from Italian tromba (trumpet) and -one (a suffix meaning "large"), so the name means "large trumpet". The trombone has a predominantly cylindrical bore like its valved counterpart the baritone horn and in contrast to its conical valved counterparts, the euphonium and the orchestral horn. The most frequently encountered trombones are the tenor trombone and bass trombone, while the E♭ alto trombone has become less common as tenor technique has extended the upper range of that instrument. The most common variant, the tenor, is pitched in B♭, an octave below the B♭ trumpet and an octave above the B♭ tuba. Trombone music, along with music for euphonium and tuba, is typically written in concert pitch, although exceptions do occur, notably in some brass band music where tenor trombone is presented as a B♭ transposing instrument.
A person who plays the trombone is called a trombonist or trombone player.

I really do admire people who can play instruments like the trombone.  If you've read what's written above about the instrument and how it's played, the trombonist actually has to vibrate their lips for them to be able to play it and make a sound.  Amazing!   I didn't know that!  All along, I thought it's played just like the saxophone, where you have to blow through its mouthpiece.

Just look at the trombone mouthpiece, won't you agree that it really isn't an easy instrument to play?  Plus, I don't think that thing is very light to carry.  I've read that, for beginners, it usually weigh from 6-8 lbs.  No, that is not light at all!

Trombone

I have a cousin who can play the saxophone, and it sounds really beautiful!  I really haven't heard a trombone being played alone.  Most of the time, I've seen and heard them in parades.  I guess I'll have to look it up, too tomorrow.  I'm sure there's a whole bunch of videos I can find and watch.  But for now, I need to get some sleep.  I really am tired!

GT: Songs I Hate The Most!!

3 Sweet Notes
My first ever post for Girls Talk...Photobucket

Just because I love music so much doesn't mean there aren't songs that I strongly dislike listening to. Those are the songs I have heard playing that contain very abhorrent words. Words that I don't think should have been allowed to be used in such a way knowing music can be understood by everyone regardless of age. I literally had goosebumps all over me when I overheard one of those songs playing. Inasmuch as I didn't want to listen to it, I got curious at how the song actually goes that made it somewhat a big hit. I gave it a minute or two and what I heard just dejected me completely! Photobucket All I heard were words like "M.F., F.U., B***H" and a lot more too disturbing for me to write down. I wasn't able to stand the whole song. I had to ask my husband to change it to something else. (No, he wasn't listening to those songs, either. We were listening music on Pandora and the station just changed on us.)

I cannot remember the title of that song I heard and neither would I care to find out what it was. All I know is, it's one of those rap-type of songs that some, if not most of the younger generation nowadays loves to listen to. The beat of the song is not even something I can call a "music". It's more of a "noise". Ugh, if only I have the authority and power to go to all recording companies and have them ban songs like that one I heard, I would do it in a heartbeat!

Music Photobucket is suppose to make us happy, inspire us, make us feel relaxed, console us -- not make us feel disturbed and disgusted. I wish they'd stop making songs like that and I wish people would not support such type of music. I understand that we have freedom of speech and freedom to express one's feelings, thoughts, and opinion. But do we really have to go to that extent where we have to use repugnant words just to express ourselves through music knowing there's a possibility that such types of songs may taint the minds of the innocent ones who can hear it? Aren't there any other ways to do so?

Are the people doing that really after the idea of "being able to express themselves and be heard by the public", or they're just after the money and fame?! If they're after the latter, then it's a shame!

Arabic Songs and I...

Leave A Note
Yesterday, I got so busy downloading songs from LimeWire. I recalled deleting some songs from the iPod a few days ago and I wanted to replace them with new songs or those I've always known but wasn't aware I didn't have. At first, I didn't know what songs to download. Oftentimes, I tend to forget the song titles or the artist who sang a particular song. That's why sometimes I like it more when my cousin, Dreidelle is around because she knows a lot of songs more than I do - especially love songs and some of what's new these days. But yesterday, I was alone so I had to make myself think really hard of any song I could possibly remember. Then, the words Arabic music suddenly popped into my head. Though I have always loved Arabic songs, I had no plans on downloading any of those yesterday. I was more into wanting to download as many country music as I can, but instead I ended up downloading Middle Eastern Music.

I got songs from my favorite Arab singers, 3amr Diab, Nancy 3ajram, and one from Mohamed 7amaki. I love their music so much and I love singing along with them. Their songs have beautiful and touching messages and they're just so nice that I can never get enough of them. I don't know how many Arabic songs I have now and I know all of them by heart. I am grateful that I know the language that's why I am able to appreciate their music, the words of the songs.

Here are the songs I downloaded yesterday and I might download more later on: Allah La Y7eremni Menak (May God not Separate Me from You) by Amr Diab, Ba7ebak Kol Youm Aktr (I love you every day, more than yesterday) by Mohamed 7amaki, and Elli Kan (It Was) by Nancy 3ajram.

I just started writing down their song lyrics so I can sing along with them without having to guess what the words are. Here's the song Allah La Y7eremny Minak -->

Allah la ye7remni menak
walla leyla ab3edha 3anak
walla leyla ab3edha 3anak
walla leyla ab3edha 3anak
Wana waiak wana shayfak hena be3eeni
ba3eesh a7alam balash menha te9a7eeny

[English translation]

May God not separate me from you..
And may I not spend a night away from you..

When I am with you and seeing you here with my eyes
I live in a dream, don't try to wake me up..
***
I know you might not be able to follow the song or understand its words, but I still would like to share this song for you to at least listen to. I included the first part of the song that I have finished taking down just now. Still working on the rest ;) You can turn it off if you don't feel like listening all the way :)

High School Musical 3 in Theaters?

1 Sweet Note
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR, is one of the many new movies I'm so looking forward to watch this year. Not to mention that it's going to be the last part of this Troy-Gabriella tandem, it's also one of my all-time favorite musical movies that's why I don't want to miss it - not a chance. But a few days ago, while I was seated on the couch watching HS Musical 2 on Disney Channel, one commercial aired and gave viewers a sneak peek into the movie. In the end, it said that it will be shown in THEATERS on the 24th of October and NOT on Disney Channel like the previous two HS Musical movies. I was like, good heavens!! I mean, I understand that it's going to be their finale movie and probably they wanted it to be big, but I was a bit reticent to sweep that up. I sure would love to watch it from a bigger screen so to speak - but the thought that I have to spend a hundred and twenty pesos only made my nearly-empty purse a sad, sad thing. Oh boy, I'm waiting with a raring heart for its premiere, but never did I expect they'd be shown in theaters this time. I watched the first two parts comfortably at home with nobody else to make noises, but me. Now, I guess I'll have no other choice but to mingle with other HS Musical fans at the cinema just to be able to watch the movie we all have been waiting for.

I know it's so much fun to watch them in the big screen, but that doesn't make my pocket right now really happy ;) I hope they'd still air it on Disney Channel even if it means watching it "late". Stinting a hundred and twenty pesos won't hurt anyone, will it? If they don't air it on DC, I guess I know what I will end up doing next ;) But, none will ever take away the excitement I feel inside. I wonder what they have in this movie this time for their millions of fans out there. I bet it's going to be as huge as the first two HS Musical movies and I'm so looking forward to learning new songs from them. I love their songs and I have all of those saved in the iPod - from HSM 1 to HSM 2. It's just kind of sad to think that after this one, there isn't going to be another High School Musical movie anymore. I've learned to love the story and everything about it. It's a one-of-a-kind musical movie that surely will leave marks on the hearts of those who truly appreciate and like it.

I could have taken a quick glimpse at its trailer on the website, but I chose not to - just so not to spoil the thrill that I feel. I love surprises, sometimes. Waiting for the 24th of October to come!! My purse will understand, I hope ;) PEACE ^_,^
