A few days back, my husband and I had a talk about whether I want to keep my Filipino channel, or if I want to just cancel it since we're almost about to go anyway. At first, I was left speechless. I didn't know what to tell him. And though, I rarely watch all the shows and channels, I still felt a bit sad about the thought that I won't have any Filipino shows to watch anymore. To be exact, I only watch 5 different shows; TV Patrol (news), KrisTV, The Buzz, ASAP, and MMK. The rest, I really don't pay much attention to them. So, when I came back to my senses, I asked myself, is it really worth keeping right now knowing that we're about to move out in a couple of months? At this very moment, I honestly don't know.
My husband would let me keep it, if I chose to. Right now, he kind of left the decision to me. He said, either one, he's fine with it. So, here comes my dilemma.
If I say cancel it, I won't have any access anymore to the Filipino shows I mentioned above. And months without Tagalog shows? Hmm, I don't know. I know I don't watch TV that much anyway, but still, thinking about not having some sort of "being-in-the-Philippines" feel in our home, makes me sad and empty inside. You know how we are, Filipinos, living abroad. Being able to at least watch Filipino shows somehow lessens our homesickness.
But, when I look at the bigger picture, not only will it save us extra money for the last few months of our stay here, we won't have to worry about canceling it later on. We will have so much on our plate to take care of, and I think it'll help if we start knocking down things one at a time, as early as now.
I told the hubby to keep TFC until New Year because I want to watch the Philippine countdown to 2013. And after that, I can give him my final decision. For now, I'll just have to enjoy it while I have it.

Don't worry sis, you can always catch your fave PInoy shows in some internet streaming sites like pinoy-ako.info. We don't have any Filipino channel at home bec there's the internet where we watch via streaming some shows my hubby loves to watch. The quality is not outstanding but it's good enough. Here's the good thing too - IT'S ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! So, if I were you, I'd have it cut so I don't have to worry about it closer to the moving day.
HI KC, I don't have TFC but I can still watch on online streaming for free. Thing with it though, you have to watch it before it gets rejected due to copyrights.
Well, I don't have a TFC and prefer Netflix. Good luck to your move and have fun.
I can't help it but flash a smile after reading your 'for the mean time' decision. I find it very wise. Mapapanood mo pa ang 2013 Countdown before making a final decision.
we have the same dilemma...TFC is quite expensive..I might have to cancel my subscription next year...besides I can check out the shows online.
May youtube naman eh hehehe. We used to have TFC but it got so expensive that I decided to cancel it.
Moving is hard, goodluck to you guys. Glad hubby is retired now.
I never have TFC Channel Sis but I seldom watch Filipino online :-) I do not even know any Filipino shows now :-(
sorry about your dilemma, i never had TFC because I am not a TV person, and also, when I was still in the Philippines, I also do not watch TV except news, however, I have learned to appreciate filipino movies when I was here once a while since exacly what you said, it helps deal with homesickness, i watch it not for quality of the story, actually, i just listen to straight tagalog conversations and everyday life, haha, however, i do get those online for free :)
you can try abs-cbn.tv or gma.net i am not sure with the website of this 2 TV company sis.. for sure with teh advent of internet you will still not be left out with watch happening in the philippines :)
i have the same dilemma as yours, to keep or not to keep a Filipino channel. when we finally move house next year, i also need to come up with a final decision.
It sound easy for you to move since there are movers to help around.
We don't have TFC too. First because, Kapuso ako LOL. Second, it's very expensive. Every now and then, there are free streaming online that you can lean on. I can live with that.
You can still enjoy your fave Pinoy shows even without TFC subscription, KC. You can find a lot of websites airing all Pinoy channels live (livestreaming) and there are heaps as well where you can watch all the replays. You won't miss anything :-) Thanks to the power of technology! :-)
when we are based in Penh, may TFC until it banned for some reasons daw, ngayon dito kami sa BKK, we also don't have. i miss Philippine show, buti na lang mga mga online sites na around where I can keep updated, hehehe! when i was reading your post in the start, naisip ko sayang naman, magpapasko, sarap lalo manuod kapag ganun....but at the end of your post, nice you're keeping it until new year! good decision i think, win-win situation. goodluck sa inyong move. :)
They are right KC, for the meantime maybe Internet can help marami nang access ang Internet sa mga channel here in pinas gurl. Ako nga if di napanood ung gusto kong panoorin dito ko na lang panoorin sa Internet hehehe
lucky you that somebody provide your moving. ours it was tough because we did all the moving.
